Cost
When it comes to the costs associated with stadium lighting, there are several factors to consider. The first is the cost of fixtures. Unfortunately, this is often the only factor that people think, because inferior technologies tend to have lower upfront costs, but higher living costs.
Second is the efficacy of the light source; with the advancement of technology (especially LED lighting), you can now use lower power to achieve the same light intensity. For example, the efficiency of the old LED stadium floodlights is about 100 LpW, while the new design allows the efficiency of more than 150 LpW. Therefore, when you used to replace a 1000-watt metal halide with a 300-watt LED fixture, now you only need 200w led chip that can achieve the same 30,000 lumens.
